Hillside Stabilization

RETAINING WALLS & CURVED STEPS.
ENGINEERED TO HOLD THE HILL.

Kentucky's hillsides require serious earth retention. We engineer heavy-duty structural retaining walls, integrate French drain hydrostatic pressure relief, and pour seamless radial curved steps to turn steep slopes into usable, beautiful outdoor living space.

Why Wagers Retaining Walls Never Bow or Fail

A retaining wall is not just cosmetic landscaping—it is a critical civil structure holding back thousands of pounds of wet earth.

Retaining Walls With Seamless Concrete Steps

When tackling a sloping yard, the retaining wall and access stairs should belong to the same pour. As seen in our project featured here, we custom bend curved steel formwork to pour radial steps that rise naturally along the contour of the retention wall, connecting lower grade driveways directly to upper decks and patios.

By pouring monolithic steps directly keyed into the wall footer, the entire structure acts as an interlocking structural anchor, giving you decades of safe passage and zero settling.

01

Deep Concrete Footings

Every wall sits on a monolithic rebar-reinforced concrete footing poured twice the width of the wall, keyed into native undisturbed soil to prevent tilting and sliding.

02

Hydrostatic Drainage System

Water is the #1 cause of retaining wall failure. We install washed #57 clean gravel backfill, non-woven geotextile filter fabric, and continuous perforated drainage pipe with daylight exits.

03

Structural Steel Reinforcement

Vertical and horizontal rebar grids tied on 12" centers, tying the wall stem directly into the base footing to resist extreme lateral earth pressure from saturated Kentucky clay.
